Police arrests stepmother, others for throwing girl into a well
The operatives of the Kano state police command has apprehended three housewives in connection with attempted murder of a girl in Gayawa village.
According to Punch, the suspects were arrested in the village on Sunday, September 25, after the father of the girl complained to the police.
The girl who was said to have spent two days in the well was rescued alive by the officials of the state fire service.
Confirming their arrests, the command’s spokesman, Magaji Majiya, said the girl was thrown into an old well in Gayawa village, Ungoggo local government area of the state.
“We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us with our investigation.“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Yusuf has directed the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department, for proper investigation,” he said.
Majiya added that the commissioner had ordered for thorough investigation to ascertain the suspects’ individual involvement in the case.
The spokesman assured that anyone found involved after full investigation, would be charged to court.g
